PDB Battles Big Sandy

The Power/Dutton-Brady (PDB) Titans fell to #1 ranked team in the state,  the Big Sandy Pioneers 35-0 in the 6-man North conference Championship game. The game started out with PDB holding Big Sandy scoreless in the first period, a feat that was rare this season.

“Big Sandy was tough for us today, but our defense really battled and kept us in it,” said PDB coach, Tom Tramner. “We just couldn’t get anything going offensively today.”

The Titan defense held the high powered Pioneer offense to just 35p points in the game, which was the lowest the Pioneers scored all season.

The Titans will now prep for the first round of the playoffs next weekend in Power. The game will most likely be played at 1 PM on Saturday and their opponent will come out of the East Conference.

The Power High School Pirates finished their 2019 regular season with a 3-0 (25-21, 27-25, 25-19) sweep of the Centerville Miners on Friday. Before the game, Power honored Senior, Veronica Smelser who has had a break out year on the floor for the Pirates.

On Thursday, the Pirates fell to Augusta 3-0. The Pirates entered that game down two starters that were major impact players this season.  The Pirates have qualified for districts and will go in as the number 2 seed behind Simms. The district tournament will start on October 31st in Augusta and go until November 1.
