Baylee Herman

Baylee Herman

Congratulations to Baylee Herman from the Simms FFA chapter and Circle S 4-H club on receiving a 2022 NILE Merit Heifer. She will be receiving a Hereford heifer from Sidwell Ranch of Columbus, MT. Each of the 19 program participants will own their heifer jointly with NILE until the completion of the program, at which time NILE officials will sign off and the participant will take full ownership of the heifer. During the program duration, participants are responsible for raising the heifer, arranging for her bred, completing the record keeping procedure and bringing the animal back one year later as a bred replacement heifer for exhibit at the NILE Stock Show.

Baylee is currently a Junior at Simms High School. She is the Simms FFA chapter Vice President, and Vice President of the Junior class. Baylee is a volleyball, basketball, and tennis athlete at the high school level. She has raised and shown goats and pigs and the local county show and is super excited to add a heifer to her animal experiences. Baylee hopes to pursue a career in the Medical field but feels a very strong love for agriculture and would like to continue to raise animals.

The purpose of the NILE Merit Heifer project is to help youth get a start in the beef cattle business by awarding heifer calves to project participants chosen on the basis of merit, future goals and ability to care for the animal. Any youth that is between the ages of twelve (12) and sixteen (16) years of age as of June 30, of the given year and a 4-H or FFA member may enter.
