Kudos to the US Forest Service, Lewis & Clark Division!
They are to be commended for their rapid response to the Wood Lake wildfire. Their full, frontal attack of the fire prevented the potential spread to the lower reaches of the Benchmark road corridor. It may have saved campgrounds and area structures from damage or destruction.
Thanks to all involved, but especially to those who had boots on the ground and the pilots in the air fighting fire in hazardous mountain terrain. Also, the F.S. was timely keeping locals and the press informed on fire conditions.
In addition, FS staff backing up the recent area fuel reduction program by extensively stringing fire hoses and sprinklers systems to protect structures gave added security and comfort to local property owners.
Well done, big thank you to all!
