Pearl L. Hovden, 89, of Lewistown died peacefully in her sleep Saturday morning, December 15th, 2018 in the Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes. She was born September 12th, 1929 at home near Fairfield the daughter of Andrew and Thilda (Jacobson) Austad. She grew up alongside 13 brothers and sisters on the Fairfield Bench. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to her sweetheart LeRoy (Roy) Hovden on December 18, 1948 in Great Falls. They moved to Lewistown and opened Roys Tire, where she worked with her husband and son for many years. Pearl also worked at the Eagles Manor for many years.
She enjoyed golfing, bowling, sewing, playing cards and especially spending time at the Gem.
Pearl is survived by her son Dale Hovden of Helena, MT; daughters Sandy (Steve) Goodpaster of Bozeman, MT, Sonja Shields of Idaho Falls, ID and Tina Kelly of Newman Lake, WA; sister Sonja (Joe) Baumgardner of Great Falls, MT; brother Richard (Jean) Austad of Fairfield, MT; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son James, one daughter Patricia Kalin, 11 brothers and sisters, two great grandchildren and a special friend Vern Smith.
Funeral Services for Pearl L. Hovden were held Thursday, December 20th, 2018 in the Cloyd Chapel, burial followed in Central Montana Memorial Gardens. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
