A glow golf tournament will be held Friday, August 18th at the Fairfield Harvest Hills Golf Course.
The fundraiser is being held to help Finnley Grace Foster, the 2-year-old daughter of Pat Foster and Katie Whitmore. Katie is a graduate of Fairfield High School, and daughter of Steve and Trudy Whitmore of Fairfield. Finnley, who suffers from a severe immune deficiency, has been in and out of hospitals her entire life. She is presently fighting an extreme infection in her bone marrow, blood, stomach and spleen. On doctor’s orders the family will be living in the Seattle area for the next two years to be close to the medical facility. Finnley has to go to her doctors 2-3 times a week to have blood drawn to monitor the infection and allow the doctors to treat it with the right antibiotics. The goal is for Finnley, once she is clear of the infection and a bone marrow match is found, to undergo a bone marrow transplant, hopefully within the next year. This is creating a huge financial burden for the family and we would like to help out in any way we can. The Fairfield community is always so supportive.
The golf tournament will begin with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. where hors d’oeuvres will be served. A Calcutta will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by a shot-gun start which will begin about 8:30 p.m. Glow golf balls and other glow items will be provided, but participates are also encouraged to bring some of their own glow items along with head lamp or flashlight to assist in driving the course safely.
Registration for the four-person team tournament is due by Aug. 14th, so be sure to get a team together and get registered. Forms can be found on Facebook on the “Prayers for Finnley” group page, forms are at the golf course or contact one of the organizers mentioned at the end of this article. The cost is $50 per golfer. Late registration may be possible depending on the number of pre-registered teams. Golf carts will be available for $15 through Harvest Hills Golf Course. This will be a fun evening of golf with family and friends – don’t miss out on a memorable evening.
Sponsors are also welcome for the tournament to help offset the cost of the glow items. Any dollar amount is welcome. Sponsors to date are: D & K Ag Supply (Doug & Kelcy Bouma), 3 Rivers Communications, Sun River Electric, Gary Kasper and Co., Fairfield Volleyball Club, Basketball Club and Youth Football, Cinder’s Chop House & Tavern, 1st Security Bank, Gulick Farm Fertilizer, LLC, Pat & Windie Goldhahn, Denny & Mary Davis. We are still accepting hole sponsors or prizes. Names will be on displayed at the club house during the tournament.

A larger benefit is in the works to be held sometime this fall – watch the Fairfield Sun Times and the “Prayers for Finnley” Group page for more information, as the plans begin to fall into place.
