Jefferson County authorities are searching for an inmate that escaped from the county jail in Boulder late Friday.
Tory Vincent Gee, 27, of Sheridan, is a white male with a shaved head and face. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds with a medium build.
Gee has several tattoos, including "Tara" on his chest, a cross on his upper right arm, "Juvie" on the left side of his back and "25" on his left calf.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt and orange pants.
Gee was arrested on Aug. 17 on a $50,000 warrant out of Madison County on suspicion of assault with a weapon, Jefferson County Undersheriff Mike Johnson said. Gee also faces a bail revocation out of Beaverhead County.
Gee is currently on probation and has previous convictions for assault with a weapon and burglary out of Beaverhead County. He is registered as a violent offender by the state of Montana.
Johnson says Gee was able to "compromise" a jail cell in order to escape the facility, but did not have additional details as of 10:15 a.m. Authorities do not have reason to believe he is armed, but given that he broke out of a secure facility, Gee's behavior may be unpredictable, he said.
Authorities received a report of a stolen vehicle in Boulder Saturday morning and Johnson says Gee is the suspect. The vehicle is a 1991 Chevrolet S10 pickup, blue in color, license plate number 51-1565B, and believed to be headed south.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported Gee escaped late Friday night. Boulder residents were initially instructed to remain inside and keep doors locked, but at about 3:20 a.m. are no longer asked to remain indoors. Residents are asked to remain vigilant and to keep homes and vehicles locked.
If seen, authorities advise not to approach Gee but to call 911 immediately.
