This Saturday, January 18, Simms and Power-Dutton-Brady schools will join together to present a Speech and Drama Tournament.
Simms High School will be hosting the event.
Choteau High School will be attending.
In total, Simms will be hosting 14 speech and drama teams from 14 schools across the region. Among the other schools planning to attend are Chester-Joplin-Inverness High School; Chinook High School; Cut Bank High School; Fort Benton High School/Middle School; Great Falls Central Catholic High School; Harlem High School; Havre High School; Malta Jr/Sr High School; North Star Schools; Shelby High school; High School; Box Elder School’ Stanford-Geyser-Denton High School and North Toole County High School.
Sara Davidson, speech and drama coach with Simms High School, told the Sun Times that she will be joined by assistant coach Holly Kincaid and the coach from Power-Dutton-Brady School to host the event. They will be joined by about 100 volunteers “who are graciously giving us their time to judge the rounds,” added Davidson.
Davidson also told the Sun Times that the teams will be served lunch by the Simms High School’s “… amazing cooking staff, headed by Betty Mirza.”
The rounds are scheduled for 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m.; 12:00 (noon) and will be wrapped up with the finals that are scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m.
The public is invited to attend and witness the performance of nearly 100 students from our region. There is no charge.
Awards for the event are being made by the Simms shop classes under teacher Jodi Koterba.
Simms High School will have a Speech and Drama Showcase on Tuesday January 21st at 7:00 pm in the Simms gym. Students will perform their events for the public. This is also a free event.
