Warrant, meth, syringes

Police responded to the Town Pump on the 500 block of Montana Street early Friday morning after receiving a report that a woman with a warrant for violating her release condition was at the gas station’s casino.

When police arrived, they apprehended the woman, Jessica Mellon, a homeless 32-year-old, and took her to the Butte detention center, where they allegedly discovered Mellon was carrying suspected methamphetamine, two syringes, and a pipe in a backpack. As a result, Mellon has been cited with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and felony possession of dangerous drugs.

Warrant, meth, syringes, again

Police were patrolling around 5:30 a.m. Friday on the 700 block of Main Street when they spotted a woman walking down the street whom they knew to have a warrant out for her arrest.

According to police, the woman, Kandace Caruthers, 38, of Butte, had a warrant for failing to appear in court.

After stopping the woman, police said they discovered she was carrying in a backpack, two syringes, a metal spoon with residue on it, and two vials containing suspected methamphetamine.

Caruthers was arrested and taken to the Butte detention center, where she now faces misdemeanor charges of criminal contempt and possession of drug paraphernalia and felony possession of dangerous drugs.

Underage DUI

Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Dillon around 3 a.m. Friday morning after they allegedly discovered he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police responded to the corner of Excelsior Avenue and Waukesha Street after dispatch received a call about a possible drunk driver. According to police, the caller claimed she witnessed Felix Sanchez-Rodriguez drive away in his vehicle and believed him to be intoxicated.

Police say officers found the Dillon man in his vehicle pulled over in an empty lot.

After speaking with Sanchez-Rodriguez, police suspected him to be intoxicated. He was taken to the Butte-Silver Bow Detention Center, where he allegedly failed field sobriety tests and blew over the legal limit on a breath test.

As of Friday morning, Sanchez-Rodriguez remained in the Butte detention center, where he now faces a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Driving without a license

Thomas Huston, 37, of Butte was cited with driving with a suspended or revoked license Thursday afternoon after police spotted the 37-year-old allegedly driving while using his cellphone.

According to police, officers were patrolling in the area of the 500 block of South Montana Street when they saw Huston on his phone and pulled him over. Police said at that time, they discovered he was driving without a valid license and arrested him.

Huston has also been cited with misdemeanors for driving without proof of insurance and using an electronic device while operating a vehicle.
