Cierra Farrill shows how to arrive at the Augusta Cowboy Rendezvous - Augusta style!

EDITOR’S NOTE: The original posting of this story had multiple errors regarding the time of several events going on this weekend in Augusta. We have corrected those errors and made a few other, more minor, corrections. We regret any inconvenience. Please note that the errors were brought to our attention after we had gone to press, so the print version has not been corrected. We would like to thank our Augusta readers for bringing the mistakes to our attention.

The holidays are upon us and Augusta is brimming with exciting things to do. The streets are already lined with colorful light displays and decorations.

The annual Festival of Trees will be held at the F.M. Mack building and forge on Main Street. The Augusta Chamber of Commerce sponsors this community fundraiser whereby businesses donate cleverly decorated trees and wreaths. These items are on display at forge and F.M. Mack and on the 5th of December, they will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Come enjoy complimentary refreshments and beverages in spaces filled with Christmas music and good cheer! Event times are 5 PM to 8 PM, but stop in any day to view the auction items.

On the following day, the Augusta Christmas Rendezvous will be held at the Augusta Community Center. Bring your wallets because you won’t be able to resist 25 artisans peddling handmade goods. Expect to see Santa, as he always stops by to visit young and old alike at the Rendezvous!  Be sure to jump on the wagon and enjoy a hayride through town, too. Admittance is free and is held from 10 AM to 4 PM. Food and refreshments are also available throughout town, with businesses offering local specials.

From Chamber President, Tia Troy, “Our Christmas in Augusta is a fun way to kick off the season.” She added, “This year, perhaps more than ever, it’s important to focus on community and supporting each other, as well as our local makers and creators.” One of the great things about the Rendezvous is that visitors often get a chance to chat with the talented artists that create the wonderful gifts offered.

On the 23rd of December, the Buckhorn will hold an open house with special drinks and free! food. They’ll be closed December 24, 25 and 26 awaiting the arrival of new Baby Buckhorn.

The Western Bar and Grill will be hosting its wildly popular Ugly Sweater contest on the 11th of December. The competition begins at 5 PM with final judging at 7 PM. Enjoy appetizers and holiday drink specials while poking fun at the competitors and playing holiday games.

Latigo and Lace had its “Latigo loves you” appreciation event on November 27th, but will hold sales throughout December.

At forge, enjoy hot cider, treats and drawings for free merchandise through December. Sales from 10 to 50% all through the store and see the big display of lighted Christmas houses.

At the end (or the beginning of town) Wagon’s West will present a show on December 18th. They’ll have Christmas Karaoke and games, free fried scones and hot chocolate. The “family party” begins at 3 PM and ends at 5 PM, while the “grown up” party runs from 7 PM to 10 PM in the bar.

Blue Pine Wine will join in the fun, this year, with their Montana wine tasting and “meet the artists” during Christmas Rendezvous on Sunday, the 5th. Visit with Kelly Peacock, Pat Greany and Ross Mosher and view their stunning photography.

The Allen’s Manix Store will open for their annual open house on December 11, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Every year, the store fills with buyers taking advantage of their one-day sale.

Augusta won’t disappoint for the holidays. The community welcomes all with open arms and wishes you the merriest of Christmases and a new year filled with joy, good health and success in your endeavors.
