For 18 years the Fairfield School has been running a successful AR (Accelerated Reading) program and this year was no  exception.  The 2018 – 2019 AR theme was  “Catch the AR Wave- Surf’s Up...Let’s Read!”

AR Program Students Win Kindle Fire Tablets

Kyndal Becker, Rylie Schenk, Landri Pitcher, Elisabeth Brown and Caden Leversee each won a Kindle Fire tablet at the end of the school year assembly.

Throughout the year, students read books and then take AR quizzes. Students earn points with each quiz passed and work to achieve an individual AR goal.  We celebrate goals that are met at the end of each quarter with prizes and also at the end of the year with an AR trip and last day of school assembly.

GOALS of this program include:

• Primary goal of the program - to promote reading at home and in school with self selected books

• “Quality Reading” – meaning we have high expectations -  students need a score an average of 85% or  ↑ on quizzes for our AR program

• Develop a love of reading and understand the importance of life-long reading

This year’s AR accomplishments grades 1st -6th:

• 100% of the students in 1st - 6th grades participated

• 4,394 books read (based on reading quizzes passed)

• 91.1% average quiz grade

• 7307.4 total points earned

• 76 students achieved their yearly AR goal and enjoyed an AR Celebration Trip

• AR words read this year for grades 1-6:  44,425,192 words
