At the beginning of each 4-H Year, 4-H Clubs typically choose a couple of community service projects and club fundraisers to accomplish throughout the year. At our Eager Eagles November 4-H Club meeting, we discussed ways in which our club could donate to the Fairfield Food Bank. The members brainstormed several ideas. Should we bring donations to each club meeting? Should we give a monetary donation? Should we have a food drive?
Last Spring, Eager Eagles 4-H Club held a Bake Sale/Garage Sale fundraiser for our club. Since that fundraising project earned enough money to pay our 4-H club member and volunteer dues this year the members decided that we should try another bake sale and this time the proceeds would support the Fairfield Food Bank. The members voted that they would like to have the Bake Sale Fundraiser & Food Drive during the Christmas Stroll since the Food Bank will be in need of more monetary and non-perishable item assistance throughout the upcoming holiday season.
As luck would have it, Prairie Stars 4-H Club reached out to Eager Eagles 4-H Club asking if we had any plans for a Christmas activity and if we wanted to do something together. We shared our idea about helping the Fairfield Food Pantry and they decided to join in on this valuable and important community service project!
Please join Eager Eagles and Prairie Stars 4-H Clubs in helping to support the Fairfield Food Bank by purchasing delicious 4-H baked goods at the Fairfield Community Hall on Friday, December 3rd from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. during the Fairfield Christmas Stroll.
All proceeds from the bake sale will go directly to the Fairfield Food Bank. We will also be collecting non-perishable food items. Items most in need are: baking goods like boxed cake or brownie mixes, sugar (granulated, powdered, & brown), flour, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and chocolate chips. They are also very low on toiletry items such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and toilet paper. Any and all items will be appreciated!
