Fairfield American Legion Post #80 and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #4109 will sponsor a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 27th, at the Fairfield Community Hall. The event will get underway at 11:00 a.m.
The program will begin with a Call to Colors led by Tom Van Setten. Next, the Fairfield Community Choir, under the direction of Fauneil Purcell and accompanied by Elaine McOmber, will play the “Armed Forces Medley” as the different branches of our military are recognized.
Laurence Vincent, Commander of VFW Post #4109 will deliver the invocation, followed by Gary Kasper, Post Quartermaster, who will deliver the welcoming message.
The Memorial Day message will be delivered by Pastor Phil Maxwell, followed by the Fairfield Community Choir’s presentation of “God Bless America” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
The indoor portion of the program will end with thirty seconds of silence and the recessional by Elaine McOmber.
All are then encouraged to walk next door to Legion Park where members of the sponsoring organizations will offer a simulation of military graveside services.
After the services the public is invited to the Serviceman’s Club where a Memorial Day lunch will be served. The Serviceman’s Club offered this Memorial Day lunch for the first time last year, and it was a huge hit with Fairfield residents.
