Jaxon Gronning and Levi Gibson

Jaxon Gronning and Levi Gibson

They may no longer swim for the Fairfield Sailfish but Jaxon Gronning and Levi Gibson continue to carry the Sailfish expectation of excellence with them onto their USA Swimming Club Team, The Great Falls Rapids. According to current records, Levi Gibson was the first Great Falls male ever to place at The Northwest Region Age Group Championships when he earned Silver in the 50 Free and Bronze in the 100 Breast in March of 2018 at Federal Way, WA. Hours later Levi set a meet record in the 50 Free Time Trial. In February of 2019 Levi became the first male swimmer in Great Falls history to qualify for the Speedo Sectionals Meet which he competed in this March, 2019.

Not to be out done, Jaxon Gronning, as only a Sophomore, competed in The Northwest Region Age Group Championships at Federal Way, WA March of 2019 and earned 9th place in the 500 Free. He is the second highest placing Great Falls male of all time, behind only Gibson, at a Regionals Swim Meet. In June, Gronning, who is only going to be a Junior this year, qualified for Speedo Sectionals to be held in March 2020 at Federal Way, WA. He is the second male from Great Falls to ever qualify for this prestigious meet. Before his excellent Sectionals qualifying time this June, Jaxon placed 4th in the 500 Free and 6th in the 200 Free at the Montana High School Association Championships in February. Jaxon is one of the favorites to win gold in the 500 Free at the MHSA State Swim Meet in February 2020.

Both young men travelled to Fresno, CA to compete at the Arena Western Zone Senior Championships  July 30th-August 3rd. Jaxon had some excellent swims and is one of the most promising young swimmers to come out of the Great Falls Swimming Programs. Levi had his best times at this meet and placed 14th in the 50 Free. His time earned him an invitation to THE USA Futures Championships next spring and next summer in Des Moines, Iowa, a feat that Head Coach Patrick King says no Great Falls Swimmer has ever accomplished. Levi is optimistic that Jaxon, along with their incredible teammate Ben Huotari , who qualified for Sectionals last week, will be joining him at The Futures Championships next summer.
