Cascade County Disaster and Emergency Services To Offer Free CERT Training

Cascade County Disaster and Emergency Services is pleased to offer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training on April 24-26, 2019 (from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday). The course is FREE, with beverages and snacks included throughout, and with lunch included on the first two days.

As a participant, you will also receive a FREE, well-stocked emergency supply kit. This class is designed to prepare you to safely help yourself and others in the event of an emergency or disaster that overwhelms first responders due to the size of the area affected, weather, lost communications, impassable roads, etc.

All participants are required to PRE-REGISTER for the course no later than March 31, 2019 (see additional information below), and are required to attend all of the training sessions, with limited exceptions to be made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the course director. Taking the course does not obligate you in any way to become further involved with CERT.

Through classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, participants learn about Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety and Utility Controls, Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue Operations, CERT Organization, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism and CERT. The course concludes with a Course Review and Disaster Simulation Exercise.
