A benefit for Benefis Teton Medical Center in Choteau

Benefis Teton Medical Center Foundation announces the 28th annual Shadows of the Past art auction slated for Saturday, September 23 at the Choteau Pavilion beginning at 4 p.m. Forty-four regionally renowned artists will be represented at this juried art event and evening gala. This event will raise money to renovate the nursing home residents’ dining room at Benefis Teton Medical Center (BTMC), Choteau’s local hospital.

The art events begin at 4 p.m. with live music, a quick finish event, and a Plein Air art auction. Thirty-five pieces will be sold at 6:30 p.m. in a live auction, and another 34 juried pieces will be sold throughout the evening through a silent auction. Hors d’oeuvres and an open beer and wine bar will be available throughout the evening. Members of the Loose Mules band, Rich Clough and friends, will perform classic country folk music from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

This year, unique art pieces range from a diminutive life-sized wood carving of a mountain bluebird mounted on drift wood and stone (Mountain Blue Bird by Connie Tveten of Fort Peck) to a hefty bugling bull elk carved into a moose antler (Bugling Bull Elk by Scott Hayes of Augusta) and an expansive three-feet-wide oil painting (Golden by Shirley Sand of Sun River). Represented in the sale are creations of bronze, ceramic, wood, oil, watercolor, silk dye, acrylic, and photography. Regionally renowned artists are represented in the sale, including Thomas English, Frank Hagel, Richard Lauritzen, Jeff Walker, Linda Tippetts, Steven Oiestad, Steve Lillegard, and Shirle Wempner. Both Choteau High School student art and BTMC resident art will also be on display.
