FAIRFIELD TOWN WATER SERVICE TO BE SHUT OFF BRIEFLY FOR REPAIRS

The Fairfield town crew began work to close a hole in the sidewalk on Central Avenue, but a persistent leak at a water cut-off valve could not be repaired without cutting the water supply off along Central between 4th and 7th Streets. The water service will be cut off at 1:30 p.m. TODAY an will be restored at 3:30 p.m.

UPDATE: Due to problems cutting off the water supply to make the repairs, the town crew will not be able to complete the repairs before Swim Day.

Today, Monday, July 10, Fairfield's town water will be shut off on Central Avenue between 4th and 7th Streets from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This morning, as the town crew were working to close the hole in the sidewalk in front of a home on Central Ave., a leak was discovered at a valve. The crew was checking for leaks before filling in the hole that has been a local eyesore for months.

The Town of Fairfield is contacting local residents.

According to Fairfield Mayor Ward Fifield, the water service to the Cozy Corner restaurant and R & L Eagle Grocery will not be interrupted. According to the mayor, those businesses get their water from a different line.
